2008 Greyhound Racing
Season in Denver
to Cease
Following June 28th Performance
|
|
Commerce City
, Colorado –
June 10th, at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Colorado Racing
Commission the Commission, approval was given for withdrawal of the request
by Pueblo Greyhound Racing for dates that had been tabled during the May
13th meeting at the behest of Commissioner Vail. The Colorado Greyhound
Kennel Association (CGKA) was unable to come to a majority agreement to
provide the necessary kennel agreements to allow the CGKA to race through
September 1, 2008. Consequently, Live Greyhound Racing will not be offered
in Colorado
for the remainder of the 2008 calendar year.
Mile High Racing And Entertainment will work in concert with the
Division Director of the Colorado State Racing Commission, Kennel
Operators, National Greyhound Association, American Greyhound Track
Operators Association, and associated adoption groups to relocate
greyhounds to other tracks to resume racing; return to the farm or owner
for breeding or placement in local adoption programs; or relocate to other
adoption groups for placement with families, depending on the wishes of the
owners.
“Greyhound welfare is our highest priority,” said Bruce
Seymore, Director of Racing Operations. “We will work with all groups
to ensure that every dog is placed. As a result of the suspension of live
racing, and per Colorado Racing Statute, we will be unable to continue to
simulcast greyhound racing at our off-track betting locations throughout
the state of Colorado.
Our facilities will however continue to race live at Arapahoe Park
and offer the best in simulcast wagering from horse tracks throughout the
country.”

Information
Racing results are updated and posted daily during the
live racing season.
Wagering on horses involves the pari-mutuel system of wagering. This term, from
the French term "parier mutuel" literally means "betting among
ourselves". Unlike casino gambling, you are not betting against the
house, but are betting against everyone else. The track simply acts as an
agent for all betting transactions and takes out a specified percentage for
this service.
For more information on horse wagering, please see download our betting, how to read a horse program and terminology guides.
